Procedural Guide
Of The
American Society of Iranian Pharmaceutical Scientists
Article I - Name
The name of this organization shall be the American Society of Iranian Pharmaceutical Scientists (ASIPS) of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).
Article II - Purpose
The purpose of the ASIPS shall be to promote the aims and objectives of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and to provide a forum for all Iranian pharmaceutical scientists in North America at which all interested in the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences may meet in professional and personal fellowship.
Article III - Participation
Any member in good standing of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, or otherwise involved in pharmaceutical sciences, and Iranian Pharmaceutical Scientists in general are eligible for participation in the ASIPS.
Article IV - Officers
The officers of the ASIPS shall be a President, a President-Elect, and an Executive Director.
Section I - Duties
The duties of the officers shall be:
A. President -
The President shall preside at all meetings of the ASIPS, shall serve as President of the Executive Committee, shall appoint all Committees, shall be responsible for and supervise the affairs of the ASIPS, shall be a voting ex-officio member of all Committees, and shall have all the executive powers normal to his/her office except as otherwise provided.
B. President Elect -
The President-Elect shall be a voting ex-officio member of all Committees, shall act in the absence of the President, shall succeed to the office of President upon the completion of his/her term of office as President-Elect or in the event of resignation, or other Incapacity of the President.
C. Executive Director/Treasurer -
The Executive Director shall keep all of the continuing education and the historical records of the ASIPS and shall keep minutes of all meetings and shall conduct the correspondence of the ASIPS. The Executive Director is also responsible for the financial and membership affairs of the society.
Section II - Term of Office
The officers shall be elected to office for a two-year term. The term of office shall begin at the end of the last business meeting of the program year. The President-Elect shall succeed to the Office of President upon the completion of his/her term of office. In the event that the Executive Director is unable to complete his/her term of office, a successor shall be appointed by the President subject to the approval of the Executive Committee. In the event that the President-Elect is unable to complete his/her term of office and succeed to the Presidentship, such office shall be filled by appointment and the candidate must have completed a term as Program Chair.
Article V - Elections
Section I - Nominations
The Past-President shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of the three Past-Presidents of the ASIPS, who shall propose a slate for the offices of President-Elect, Executive Director and Treasurer. The report of the nominating committee shall be presented to the general membership at the November meeting.
Section II - Balloting
The President-Elect, Executive Director/Treasurer shall be elected bi-annually. The election shall be conducted by voice vote at the Annual meeting.
Article VI - Committees
Section I - Executive Committee
The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers, the immediate Past-President, and the President of each standing committee. It shall have the general legislative powers of the membership when the ASIPS is not in session.
Section II - Standing Committees
The following Standing Committees shall be established:
Section III - Special Committees
Special Committees shall be appointed by the President when necessary to carry out the specific tasks of the AAIPS.
Article VII - Meetings
Section I - ASIPS Meetings
The ASIPS program year shall normally run annually.
Section II - Executive Committee Meetings
The Executive Committee shall be contacted by different means of communication including phone, fax, email, at such time as necessary upon call of the President.
Article VIII - Finances
Section I - Fees
Participants of the ASIPS and/or the AAPS shall, upon payment of the annual dues to the AAPS and/or the ASIPS, become members in good standing of the ASIPS and/or the AAPS. Payment of such dues shall entitle the participant to attend the ASIPS and/or AAPS meetings, and to hold office.
Section II - Source of Funds
The AAPS will provide the ASIPS with a stipend based on ASIPS membership who are active members of the AAPS. Additional funds for the activities of the ASIPS and Student awards may be derived from other sources as approved by the Executive Committee of the ASIPS.
Section III - Fiscal Agent
The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists shall act as the fiscal agent of the ASIPS and the ASIPS shall submit an annual report to this Association.
Article IX - Amendments
Changes in this procedural guide, affecting the routine internal operation of the ASIPS, may be made by a majority vote of the Executive Committee, provided a quorum is present. However, changes in this procedural guide, affecting the aims and objectives of the ASIPS must be made by a majority vote of the general membership present as a ASIPS meeting, provided notice of such amendment had been published prior to the vote. No changes in this procedural guide shall be initiated which are in direct conflict with the By-Laws of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.

This procedural guide was recommended for approval by the members, of the ASIPS Executive Committee on and approved by voice vote of the membership in November 15, 1998.
